I wasn’t quite sure what to think when iDox sent me one of their Traveler Series iPhone Cases for review. It seemed initially like a bit of a 1-trick wonder (it’s just a case/stand – no charging, power, etc.) but after a few days, … I “got it.”

This (jump over to the site for pictures) thing is hands down, the most solid case I’ve ever seen or used for the iPhone. It’s proudly designed and manufactured in the USA and it looks like it. It puts the phone in a very stable plastic grip that just “feels” right – not like someone was trying to cash in on some of the iPhone case money. I hope that makes sense.

But it’s not a case for putting in your pocket or attaching to your car – it’s a case for viewing video content. Right now I’m streaming the news to my iPhone as I type this and it all looks great.

Next week, I’m on 5 planes in less than 48 hours. I’ll be catching up on the latest video using my iPhone and my iDox. If you travel and want a SOLID case that flips open to both viewing stand and “clock holder” (again, check out the site), this is the product for you.

In April I’m taking a trip to China and taking some travel tech with me to see how it fares on a real trip. I’ll update this review when I get back.

When asked about my recommendations for a Webinar solution, I suggest you try GoToWebinar – the affordable, do-it-yourself Web event service that doesn’t require a consultant. Free Trial available.

GotoWebinar is my favorite because the quality and scalability is there – but it is at a price everyone can afford. They get my highest recommendation.

My next Webinar will use GotoWebinar. Will yours?

The best USB Microphone for your money right now is the AT2020USB. The company behind it, Audio Technica, has been making audio equipment for a long time and knows the game well. The link will take you to the product at the best price we’ve found it online.

In the grand scheme of things, the AT2020USB is a relatively new USB microphone. It’s the USB version of their very popular AT2020 condenser microphone – a standard for a many.

Using a USB microphone makes recording easy – as you can just plug the mic into your computer and record away. Be warned, however, that you can’t plug it directly into “traditional” audio equipment. But, since this isn’t what people looking for a USB microphone are generally looking for, we can recommend the AT2020USB accordingly.

Boxee is revolutionary and extremely important. Before this wonderful and crazy world of new media “makes it” everywhere, we need a means for a) everything to be available in one place that b) my Mom can use.

Boxee provides that – in 2 very cool ways. They have the software (and it works on the Mac, the PC, Linux (and even the Apple TV), and they now have the Boxee Box. The software is available for free right now and the Box is coming in a few months.

Part of the business behind this is that the software is free – and will always remain so (was assured by CEO Avner personally). Obviously the computer you put it on isn’t but … The official price on the “Box” isn’t out yet – but everything points to <$200.

The interface is gorgeous and includes direct access to pretty much everything – Hulu, Netflix, CBS.com, YouTube, Revision3, etc.

Here’s the Revision3 report from CES 2010 (beautiful, eh?). I got an in-depth preview at ShowStoppers at CES and can tell you it’s even better looking in person. Do yourself a favor, download the software and take a look for yourself:

Now, we need to talk about Hulu and Boxee. Hulu is the sexiest element of Boxee right now but (plane and simple), it doesn’t always work. There is a bit of a cat and mouse game between the two companies that needs to be discussed. Hulu (in short) doesn’t like Boxee. Reasons why require another posting all together – but their business plan (today) doesn’t include Hulu on the television set. This will change, but right now the product won’t always work with Boxee directly.

There are other options for Hulu on the television that “work” all the time – but they don’t have half the class and approachability and coolness of Boxee.

As frustrating at this is, realize it’s a Hulu issue that Boxee is in the middle of – and not vice versa.

Boxee is my media center at home (running on a Mac Mini) – and it will be for some time. 2010 I’ll be joined by a LOT MORE people – and I recommend strongly that you be one of them.
